This Week at Tone Proper (8/9/10)

What’s happening here at Tone Proper?
The rear wall diffusor is finally finished. Months of labor went into this puppy. All local Douglas Fir wood. This is a quadratic residue diffusor.... I know it looks random but its not. Sorry for the lame to very lame iPhone shot. It measures 6 foot by about 3 foot. It’s kind of fun to sit under it, makes you feel like some sort of art deco king.

This coming week I’ll be at Crossroads in Vancouver recording some really nice compositions by Portland Composer Cynthia Gerdes. Any excuse to work with renowned players and a nine foot Steinway is OK with me.
Also working with AZULYAEL this week, great Portland artist from Sudden Anthem (one of my favorite records of the year). Looking forward to seeing what these guys are pulling out their hats.
Lastly, doing transfers for pop legend Gino Vannelli, I’m transferring “Yonder Tree” from half inch tape... only problem....the tape is completely melting off the tape machine.... time to bake the tapes! More on this interesting session soon!
Few more projects in the works, more on these soon....
